Fly from Nice to Marrakesh

Marrakesh has managed the feat of bringing in millions of tourists without even one beach or ski resort to its name. That should tell you something about this Cherifian city! A jewel of a thousand faces. It’s simple: whether you go as a family, with friends, or as a couple, for a long weekend or even longer, you’ll always leave happy. Why is that?
Because it’s exotic! Marrakesh is a fusion of souks, the smell of spices in the air, the taste of argan oil, the penetrating heat of a hammam, and so much more.
And nature too: The Pearl of the South and surrounding region have some incredible landscapes. Like the green gardens of Menara and the 100,000 tress that make up its famous Palmeraie. Or the wild and exhilarating Ouzoud Falls and the cliffs of the Atlas mountains. Or else the revitalising beaches of Essaouira, the favourite seaside resort of the locals.
But Marrakesh is full of culture as well. The Red City will feed your soul: the ancient walls of the Medina bathed in sun, the resting place of Yves Saint-Laurent, the palaces and mosques that have stood for centuries, the workshops of craftsmen working leather, wood, metal, and earth with skill and diligence.

• 1. Wait until the end of the day to head to place Jemaa-el-Fna, the beating heart of the city, and listed as a World Heritage Site. It's wonderfully crowded, and you’ll find lots of colourful stalls and bewitching snake charmers there. A definite must-see!2. Take a ride in a carriage or on camel back over the trails of the 850-year-old Palmeraie. Its 100,000 trees offer visitors more than just shade. Here you’ll also find dates, palm hearts, palm oil and palm wine, and more.3. Wander the Medina, the old city, the largest in Maghreb. It’s also one of the most beautiful, as evidenced by it’s place on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Be sure to get up close to the Koutoubia mosque, the largest in the city, and marvel at its minaret.4. Follow in the footsteps of two of France’s most famous artists: painter Jacques Majorelle and fashion designer Yves Saint-Laurent. The latter bought the villa of the former. You can visit its incredible garden. Nearby you’ll find the Yves Saint-Laurent Museum, which presents the artists’ respective works. 5. Bargain in the souks of Marrakesh. And don't hold back - it’s both expected and a tradition here! You’ll have lots of opportunity to practise your negotiating skills: basketry, jewellery, spices, rugs, pottery, tagelmusts, caftans, babouches, and more are all on offer.6. Daydream your way through enchanted palaces. The Dar Si-Saïd, home to the Museum of Marrakesh, is positively beguiling with its coffered ceilings and orange tree-covered patio. The Bahia, perhaps the most monumental in the country, is the epitome of Moroccan architecture.7. Treat yourself to a bit of self-care in a traditional hammam (remember, men and women are always separate!). Steam baths, rhassoul (a black soap made from volcanic clay from the Atlas mountains) and a Kessa glove body exfoliation make for a one of a kind beauty treatment. 8. Have a drink in Churchill Bar in the Mamounia, one of the most famous bars in the world. It's legendary. Maurice Ravel played piano here, and Winston Churchill downed more than a few Dry Martinis. While you're there, visit the palace around it. A marvel! 9. Head out of town and check out the Ouzoud Falls (150 km from Marrakesh), the tallest in Morocco. You can both swim and picnic there. Continue on a bit further and go hiking in the Ourika Valley, with the Atlas mountains rising high above you.10. Run into the waves of the Atlantic on the beaches of Essaouira (200 km from Marrakesh). Don't leave without visiting the city. Its blue boats, ramparts, charming medina, and souks are well worth the detour.
