Your Nice-Santorini direct flight
To fly directly to the party capital of the Greek islands, go to Terminal 2. Nice-Santorini flights with Air France leave from there, once the weather starts to heat up.
Even if you already have your Nice-Santorini ticket, you should arrive at the airport a full hour before take-off. This will make it easier for you to go through security checks. Need to stop by your airline's check-in desk to pick up your boarding pass or drop off a piece of hold baggage? Add at least a quarter of an hour's delay!Departure airport Nice Côte d’Azur airport Departure terminal Terminal 2 Arrival airport Santorini airport Arriving in Santorini
Santorini's airport is not very big, in the image of the island it serves. It will only take you a short time to reach the main destinations on the island. Fira (also called Thira or Chora), the capital of Santorini, is only five kilometres away. Oia and Perissa, in the north and south of the island respectively, are only 20 minutes from the terminal. To get around, you can choose between:
- The bus: The Santorini Airport Bus takes you to Fira for a small fee and only takes about 10 minutes. From there, you can take another line to your destination.
- Taxis: the easiest option. But watch out for peak periods. The wait can be long. The driver may offer to let you share the car with other customers. But they won’t let you split the bill, so beware! It will cost around €20 maximum if your destination is Fira. A sum that's often lower than hotel shuttles!
- A car hire: there are more than 10 companies competing for your business. A word of advice: as the roads in Santorini are rather humble, if you're travelling with two people, opt for a small, practical and easy-to-handle car.
What to do in
Santorini ?
Nearly 4,000 years ago, a volcanic eruption engulfed a significant portion of the islands of the Santorini archipelago. Hence the myth of Atlantis, according to some. This theory is far from universally accepted. What is certain is that this catastrophe left its mark: steep, vertiginous cliffs, black or red sand beaches, hot springs and the caldera, the inland sea unique to the archipelago, which was formed when the volcano collapsed. All this gives Santorini's landscapes a distinctive character, a beauty that no other island in the Cyclades can match. It's what makes a trip to Santorini so unique!

A relaxing or an explosive holiday
See more See lessIt is the southernmost of the Cyclades islands. And it's one of the sunniest. Summer here lasts much longer than elsewhere. For months, the sky remains as blue as the domes that contribute so much to the beauty and picturesque quality of Greece's island villages. This makes Santorini a perfect destination for a holiday "by the sea". With the family, you can share the joys of nature, glorious days on the beach, boat tours, picnics on the islets, and delicious pita bread. Couples can add a bit of culture, learning about ancient civilisations, adding a good dose of hedonism by touring local vineyards, having dinner under the stars, and strolling along the steep cobblestone streets of an ancient village. Groups of friends can spice up these pleasures with a splash of ouzo and a wave of loud music. There's no shortage of great spots to party well into the night.

The top 10 things to do in Santorini
See more See less- Stroll through the charming streets and alleyways of Fira (also known as Thira or Thera). Overlooking the caldera, the island's capital offers incredible views of the sea and the surrounding small islands. The further you descend towards the sea, the quieter things get!
- Descend the Karavolades stairs all the way down to Santorini's old port. No fewer than 588 steps over almost a kilometre, which you can do on foot or by mule. How do you get back up? Take the cable car!
- Finish your day on the terraces of Oia. A wondrous spectacle awaits. Located in the north of the island, this village, with its blue domes and windmills, is without a doubt the most beautiful on Santorini, offering its guests sunsets of a rare beauty.
- Reach for the sky by climbing to the top of Pyrgos, the highest village on the island. The higher you go in this white maze, the more you'll enjoy it. Highlights include a Venetian castle, a monastery, a church and breathtaking views of the entire archipelago.
- Travel back in time as you discover ancient sites. Explore Akrotiri and its volcanic ash-covered ruins. The Pompeii of the Cyclades! Visit the ancient city of Thera. Check out the archaeological museum in Fira.

- Dock on the island of Nea Kameni and climb the slopes of the crater of Santorini's still-active volcano. Stunning scenery, arid and hot soil, fumaroles that smell of sulphur, red, black or ochre rocks: it's like being on the moon!
- Dive into the orange waters of Palea Kameni Island. They're the result of sea water mixing with the hot springs that bubble up from the depths and from the volcano. It’s great for your health. Just like the island's mud, which makes for an excellent skincare product!
- Spend some time in the crystal-clear waters of the Aegean Sea and enjoy the island's most beautiful beaches: Perissa with its black sand, Kamari with its huge waves, as well as Red Beach, which is sublime but very crowded, and Amoudi Bay, a poetic place...
- Enjoy a glass of Santorini wine. The island has the reputation of producing some of the best white wines in the world. Like a dry white? Opt for the Nykteri, which is both mineral and aromatic.
